Why biotin is the largest figure in Gelagen
One number on this panel is far bigger than the rest, and it is there on purpose.
An adult is judged to need 30 mcg of biotin a day, so 5,000 mcg is about 167 times that. It is the nutrient most associated with hair and nails, and a panel built around it is making a clear statement about what the product is for. Biotin has no official upper limit.
The evidence deserves both halves. Biotin deficiency causes hair loss and brittle nails and correcting a deficiency helps; in people who are not short of it the record is thin, and the brittle-nail work the National Institutes of Health cites is three small studies with no placebo group.
One practical consequence follows. Biotin at supplement amounts interferes with some laboratory tests, the published human work on that starts at 10 mg a day and this label prints 5 mg, so nobody has tested this amount either way. Before any blood test, tell whoever draws it that you take biotin.
The two smallest amounts in Gelagen, and what they do

Inositol is 40 mcg and has no Daily Value at all, so there is nothing to measure it against; it is usually studied in gram amounts.
